Dark Brings (DB(ダークブリング) Dākuburingu, DB for short; Shadow Stones in the English dub) are malefic, indestructible Magic Stones (()(せき) Maseki) channeling the "Power of Darkness" ((やみ)(ちから) Yami no Chikara), which have been scattered across the world of Rave Master; they are the counterparts of the Holy Stones called Rave.[1]

With each Dark Bring housing a different, powerful form of Magic, the stones' abilities are harnessed by many antagonists throughout the series, while centered around the dark organization Demon Card.

Description[]

Dark Brings generally take the form of black/dark-purple stones of varying size and shape (some had even been accessorized by their owners into various ornaments) that steadily give off a faint purple-to-pinkish glow from time to time.

Powers and Abilities[]

All Dark Bring Stones are unique in which each houses a different superpower; this unique power varies from person to person some of which had been shown to be a manifestation of the wielder's will or inherent strength. Each of them is given significant names in relation to their respective powers. If the Dark Bring is used too excessively in succession, it will corrupt the user, although not necessarily turn them evil.

Based on their level of power, Dark Brings are separated into different groupings:[2]

  • High-Level Dark Brings ((じょう)(きゅう)DB(ダークブリング) Jōkyū Dākuburingu): Stones that are above regular DBs in power. The executive members of certain (dark) organizations tend to hold these.
  • Supreme-Level Dark Brings ((さい)(じょう)(きゅう)DB(ダークブリング) Saijōkyū Dākuburingu): Dark Brings of a higher order of power than High-Level DBs; examples are the five DBs wielded by King.
  • Six-Star Dark Brings ((ろく)(せい)DB(ダークブリング) Rokusei Dākuburingu): Six DBs that are particularly powerful among their kind, wielded by the Oración Seis (save Haja) and allowing them to control different elements/forces of nature.
  • Reversal Dark Brings ((うら)DB(ダークブリング) Ura Dākuburingu): A dangerous type of DB whose use demands the wielder's mind and body as compensation. By transforming their body into a grotesque form, the wielder gains great power that will grow unchecked, but once activated they lose control of themselves and can never return to their original form. Given the irreversibility of their effect, these DBs tend to be used as a final trumph card (e.g., by King and Mummy).[3][4]
  • Artificial Dark Brings ((じん)(こう)DB(ダークブリング) Jinkō Dākuburingu): Manmade DBs resulting from the total fusion of DBs with human bodies. Many were developed by Demon Card, particularly the organization's scientist Kilkila Igor in the Hardcore Mountains: known ones (named after their year of completion) are Type-56 (fused with Deep Snow, drawing out his latent potential) and Type-61 (fused with Haja, while possessed by Kilkila, being the secret behind his "infinite" Magic Power).[5][6] The DBs mass-created by Demon Card's King with the Enclaim (エンクレイム Enkureimu) ritual, at the Tower of Din, count as another example of Artificial DBs, including the DB called End of Earth.[7][8][9]
  • Mother Dark Bring Sinclair (母なる闇の使者(マザーダークブリングシンクレア) Mazā Dākuburingu Shinkurea), or simply Mother Dark Brings (マザーDB(ダークブリング) Mazā Dākuburingu): The original "Mother of DBs" as the ultimate evil stone that is paired with the five Raves. Fifty years ago through Overdrive, Sinclair caused immense destruction, the result of which was the DB's split into five pieces (matching the five Rave Stones) that scattered all over the world. Each Mother Dark Bring has its own will and cannot be used by anyone other than those recognized by Sinclair itself as its proper owner. Since Sinclar is the "Mother" of all DBs, it is impossible to attack the owner of a piece of it with another, lesser DB.

The true source of all Dark Brings, as well as the result fo re-fusing all the Mother Dark Brings/pieces of Sinclar back together, is the living, Dimension-Destroying Dark Bring called Endless, whose purpose for existing is to destroy all parallel worlds.[10]

Purification[]

It seems that Dark Brings are able to be purified, as Reina's White Kiss becomes fused with Musica's silver as a testament of their love and bond. Furthermore, Ravelt is formed from the union of Musica's silver and Reina's White Kiss. At some instances where Reina's spirit appear alongside Musica, White Kiss is seen adorning her left arm. Purified Dark Brings' connection to Endless is also severed as a result, and they provide immunity towards other Dark Brings' power, even Mother Dark Brings', as Girafe is unable to twist Musica's Silver Ray with his Twist, and Doryu is unable to use Vampire on the same weapon, much to the shock of both. When Endless is destroyed, all Dark Brings across the world shatters in the blink of eyes while White Kiss remains intact on Musica's silver skull necklace.

Weaknesses[]

Dark Brings are indestructible by any conventional means including any weaponry and magic. General Jeid mentioned that even the Empire's most powerful weaponry are unable to even scratch a single one.[11] They can only be destroyed by three methods confirmed.

  1. The Rave Stones: Only the holy power of the Rave can destroy them
  2. Plue's nose: For unknown reasons.
  3. The will of Mother Dark Brings.
